Moaning Joan caught out by Northern Echo

Oooops!

Joan has been caught out in today's Northern Echo.

As Paul says in his own words...

"Talking of double identities ...On June 17, we published a 174-word letter from Mr J Young, of middlesbrough, criticising the Government over its income support policies.

A month later, a letter with exactly the same wording arrived from independent coun McTigue. Well, what are the odds of that?

i emailed Coun McTigue on July 21, asking if she could help solve the mystery, but so far there has been no reply.

How very strange...."

Yes how very strange indeed. And cllr McTigue has yet to reply-what a surprise!

Joan squirms

far from being magnamous in defeat, joan loves to invent and "spin" discussion with her interlocuters.

For example, in gazette letter page, Joan informs two writers that they are wrong about local funds for wards.

What Joan is really saying is, do away with local democratic forums for wards -and their funds, and give them to her, the local demagogue. she can then decide who is worth talking to, and who to shout at (see her recent disciplinary matter) and do what she thinks best.

Beware Beechwood, you may have created a monster!

Joan's in bother again

In today's Northern Echo, it reports that councillor McTigue has been ordered to apologise to council workers whom she verbally abused. she has 14 days to fulfill this obligation, starting from.....now!

She'll never learn.

Joan is Confused

During the March 2006 By-election, in Middlehaven, subsequently won by the Labour candidate Pervaz Khan, Joan McTigue was a keen canvasser for the independent candidate Kath Rosevekis.

Now Kath is a Gresham resident opposed to Independent Mayor Ray Mallon's plans to demolish a number of houses in the Gresham ward. Pretty straight forward so far.

However, Joan is a BIG Mallon fan. Therefore, Joan supports Mallon, and supports candidates who run against his agenda.

Confused, so are we, and understandably so is Joan.

How does Joan get away with this quite duplicitous form of politics? By SHOUTING AT EVERYONE. A fairly dogmatic form of political rhetoric, but one Joan swears by.

Joan launches her own "ThinkTank"

Yes, the brilliant Cllr McTigue has managed to articulate another brilliant suggestion.

She wonders whether the Council will allow small pots of money for local people to decide what to do with it. BRILLIANT.

However, what she failed to recognise is that this structure already exists, and has done for some time. They're called community councils, where Borough council, councillors, Community council reps and the public make well informed decisions based upon discussion, and decide what to do with the money.

Of course, Joan has by-passed this democratic method of communication, because she didn't think of it first, and doesn't like to hear other opinions, unless they are hers.

Joan admits she's the most complained about councillor...and then complains

Ever had the feeling that you've been here before?

Yes, Cllr McTigue has been reported to the standards board, AGAIN.

This woman really can't stop herelf from attacking people for any reason SHE decides appropriate.

In this case, a council employee. Now, we at "Joan McTigue" see it fit that Cllrs are critical, when necessary, as and when a council employee isn't performing.

However, Joan takes it to, shall we say, another level.

Shall I compare thee to a...

One of our favourite loony independents is Jackie Elder.

We've never talked about Jackie before, but I think its about time that we at "Joan McTigue" gave her the literary appreciation she duly deserves.

The above article, from the Northern Echo, pretty much sums her up.

Apparently, she also likes to wear a line dancing out-fit to council chamber meetings!

Maybe she should take it easy on the HRT from now on.

Joan, making it up as she goes along

On Middlesbrough Council, Cllr McTigue is in an Independent group with Cllr Morby (see photo to the right). An Independent group of 2, very influential don't you know.

Now Cllr Morby is a Trade Unionist. This is quite interesting really, given that he is in an alliance with a woman who is quite clearly anti-trade unionist, and creates fictious stories about trade union activities!

We here at "Joan McTigue" are just waiting for her to turn on the FBU, Cllr morby's own union!

But while we, and you wait, take a look at the above link. Here, Cllr McTigue comes to the miners aid, only 22 years to late.

Never mind eh Joan. maybe she'll be invited to speak at this years Durham Miners Gala, and then again, probably not.

Mctigue picks fight with young lad

Yes, Cllr McTigue really knows how to take on the powers that be, especially if they are teenage residents of her own ward.

I am a fighter not a quitter!

Amongst many, many attributes Joan is of course Beechwood's very own Greco-Roman wrestling champion, as well as North East regional bare-knuckle boxing amateur champion 1985.

However, for Joan, these titles are eclipsed by her most satisfying victory. Notibly, her victory against ex-Middlesbrough Mayoress Pat Walker.

In fact, Joan's cv quite rightly points to her 100% undefeated record against Pat Walker.

As you will read in the attached link, you may say it was a "grave" mistake by Pat Walker to take on Joan McTigue.

Take your pick.

For our first post we at "Joan McTigue" would like to show what a brilliant councillor she truly is. For example, Joan is such a humble soul she has consistently failed to mention the many complimentary comments the standard board for Councillors have made about her.

For example, via the above link, if you search for our local heroine's name in the members search you will find many interesting tit bits that Joan has never blown her trumpet about.

Welcome to "Joan McTigue" The site that keeps a tabs on the demagogue of Beechwood!

Welcome dear readers to Middlesbrough's latest blog site. A site dedicated to keeping tabs on a nutter. The nutter in question, Joan McTigue, Councillor for Beechwood.

Keep tabs on the site for our first installment.
